As the population shifts toward the commercial hubs of the city as the MSNBC article linked below suggest, there will be a need for additional commercial services. Retailers, service related companies, and even an additional office or two. In Birmingham the downtown condominium market has had a number of up's and down's. It seems like one day the hype is bright and the next day brings the auctioneer. However, if the premis of this article is true, a steady population shift will certianly have an effect on downtown market areas. If the population is solid and true, then the commercial uses will likely follow.
